Udupi: Former Congress leader Amrith Shenoy set to join party again?

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS/HB)

Udupi, Mar 28: State vice-president of Karnataka Rashtra Samithi party, former Congress leader Amrith Shenoy is ready to join the party again, as per the rumours making rounds in the district Congress circles here.

Amrith Shenoy is an entrepreneur and is active in various organizations. He took an active part in the recently held Konkani literary convention.

Amrith was a staunch Congress supporter and used to take part in all the activities of the party. He openly criticised the party when there were differences within the party and also when he felt disappointed. He had very cordial relations with several state Congress leaders and was an aspirant in the last Lok Sabha elections.

However, when the ticket was given to a JD(S) candidate who the Congress was supporting as part of alliance, he grew unhappy and chose to contest as an independent. He soon drifted apart from the Udupi district Congress leadership, and was expelled by the party for six years in 2019 for engaging in anti-party activities. However, he continued to maintain ties with district Congress leaders.

Amrith Shenoy was nominated as the member of AICC executive committee after the senior leaders took note of his involvement in all the party activities. After he was rusticated from the Congress party, he got involved in various activities as the state vice-president of Karnataka Rashtra Samiti.

His close aides informed that the state Congress must have invited Amrith to join the party. "Amrith is not convinced with the ideals of other political parties as he staunchly believes in secularism. So it is certain that he will do 'Ghar Wapsi' for sure. Though he has left our party, he has maintained good relations with us. We are ready to welcome him back to the party," said one of his close aides to Daijiworld media.

Speaking on the subject of returning to Congress party, Amrith Shenoy clarified, "Yes. I have decided to return to Congress very shortly. I will call a press conference in this regard and inform the media."

Only time will tell whether the senior leaders in the district Congress party, which has several internal issues, will welcome Amrith Shenoy or insist that he remain expelled.

Amrith Shenoy, a well know name for honesty, respect for all religion and a true believer of constitution of India. If such a person enters politics, I have no doubt that the corruption level in our political system would definitely come down. We should honestly support such an young generation leader, who dreams to bring about change in the society and change the way corrupt political system functions in our state/country. I have been observing this gentleman over the past two years, fighting against corruption with his owe group of like minded followers, they stood for hours in inspection bungalow's to question our visiting ministers ( Babus) about various corruption scandals asking for answers. We need such people who dare to question why? why have you done this ? why can't you do transparently, we need new generation of leaders like Amrith Shenoy who dare to change the way our political systems functions.

Welcome back to Congress. In fact, join any party that upholds the original constitution of India. Only way India can progress is by bringing communal harmony, equal right s to all and based on clean pure democratic values. Today, India's image is completely destroyed world over. Need highly educated young blood in Congress.
