Dammam: Real Tech Lifts Asia XI Summer Cup 2010

Dammam, Jul 25: Real Tech - Jubail defeated Tamimi Cricketers – Al Khobar by 5 wickets to lift Asia XI Summer Cup – 2010 (Imtiaz Memorial Trophy) played at Rakha Grounds near Dhahran Exhibitions, Dammam recently.

Having won the toss and elected to bat first Tamimi lost both their openers with just 12 runs on board. Sanjeeva and Nuwan then put on a valuable partnership of 24 runs for the 3rd wicket. After them, Mohammed and Prabath played responsibly to added another 30 runs for the 5th wicket. Towards the end of the innings, Ravi, a good striker of the ball played magnificently and took his team to a commendable position of 103/6 in the allotted overs.

It was a fine performance by Real Tech bowlers Rafiq who took 4 wickets, and Siraj and Amzath who took two wickets each.





In reply, Real Tech lost their opener Muthalib in the very first ball of their innings and lost their 2nd wicket with just 11 runs on board. However, all-rounder Rajesh and Javed took command and moved the score to 40 in the 4th over. All-rounder Rafiq and Hamzath played magnificently and put on 53 runs for the 4th wicket. After Rafiq's fall, Real Tech were in some trouble chasing the target. But Asif and Hamzath remained steady, smashing the Tamimi blowers to take the team to a thrilling victory. Asif played brilliantly and hit three huge sixes to the midwicket. 

Rafiq of Real Tech was awarded Man of the Match for his fine display of bowling and batting performances. He also bagged the Man of the Tournament award.

Prabath of Tamimi was adjudged best batsman while Sarfraz of Kokan XI, Affan of Amaco and Ravi of Tamimi were declared best bowler, fielder and wicketkeeper respectively.

DCA president and sponsor of the tournament Ashok Patel awarded the trophies to the winners and runners up.

Chief guest for the occasion Mohammed Yonus Malik of Al Anwaar Group awarded mementos to the sponsors and the invitees and appreciated the efforts of Noor of Asia XI in conducting the tournament successfully.

Eithesahm, Ravi Karkera of MASA, Mushtaq, Raj Gopal, Abdul Mannan,   Gopal Shetty, Asif of Amaco, Sharief Colts, Javed of Unique, Sharief Karkala,  Hyder Ali, Ummer Khushaim, Aslam of Kokan XI, Usman of NGC Jubail were also present.

As many as 32 teams from Dammam, Khobar, Seihat and Jubail participated in the tournament.
