Mumbai: State board students of IX, XI likely to be promoted without exams

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Apr 8: Students of standards IX and XI from the state board affiliated schools will be promoted to the next academic year, the school education department announced on Wednesday April 7.

In a video message, school education minister Varsha Gaikwad, said, "Considering the current Covid-19 situation in the state, we have decided to promote all students of standard IX and XI to the next class. We will soon announce some programmes to ensure that the learning continues as these years are the basis for the standard X and XII board exams."

Now the government's decision on the SSC and HSC board exams is awaited. Some are demanding the exams be postponed while some want the exams to be conducted online, Gaikwad said. However, several stakeholders are against rescheduling as CBSE and CISCE exams are likely to be conducted as per schedule which should not impact the students' plan from the state board.
