Mangalore, Jul 29: The city’s concrete roads make for smooth driving and the equally good footpaths make walking an appealing chore—at all times except the monsoon season!

Many cars, buses, and trucks are getting jammed in the soil along the side of the road or in the dividers where the soil turns into a trap during the rains. Ditches adjacent to the road are yet another hazard during the monsoon. Many deaths and accidents have been caused due to these reasons already.















Many of the footpaths often harbour hidden ditches or other openings where pedestrians might lose their footing in the rain.

So, drivers and pedestrians need to be cautious about these pitfalls as it were to avoid getting vehicles jammed in the ditch or by the road side and other accidents arising from these eventualities.

It is upto the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) to prevent such traps when embarking on developmental projects.

    Vehicle drivers must be specially cautious about the uncomplete road dividers in the sections where concreting is in progress. These gaps are quite deep and have Iron rod protruding out which damage the tyres. Last night , my car tyre was damaged beyond repair due to the above. Please be careful.

    There was ample time this year to do some kind of patch work on the roads with few lakhs of Rs. specially in city like M'lore before monsoon. Our Ministers will come on press conference saying that govt. has allocated certain amount of crores to do all kinds of roads in difft locations from Blore to Mlore. Foolish ministers does not know what is important during monsoon which continues until Sept in Mlore. Awake ministers, MCC officials do the right thing at the right time, do not only talk, talk and make yourself fools in front of citizens. When you drive down on Mlore roads specially Pumpwell to Talapady-Nanthoor to Padil, one will feel you are living in Bihar remote villages. Shame on you transport Minister for your carelessness. You people know only to blame difft. departments, if you had spent some money from your corruption Kitty God would have had little pity on you people. Any patient travelling to hospitals either by bus, car, rickshaws or two wheelers is very PAINFUL INDEED. Only God can understand their state and not these so called Irresponsible ministers whom we have elected in good faith.
