Udupi: Egg with Arabic, Urdu Etchings Found Near Temple Causes Tension

Udupi, Jul 31: An egg etched with Arabic was found near Naganakatte, behind Vasudev Temple, Koppalangady, on Friday July 30, and this caused apprehension to the local residents.
Hundreds of curious people gathered at the site where the egg, etched with both Arabic and Urdu letters and numbers, was found. The tense situation which prevailed was about to turn violent.
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, temple renovation committee former president Dr Prabhakar Shetty, Janardhan temple managing trustee Jayaram Hegde, temple priest Shresha Tantri, Vasudev Bhajan Mandal president Uday Shetty, advisor Ashok Shetty, Kaup gram panchayat president Yogish Rai, and village elders arrived at the location and calmed the commotion over the etched egg.
Kaup sub-inspector Mohan Kottari visited the location and is investigating the incident.
The temple authorities contacted renowned astrologer Nitte Prasanna Acharya who confirmed that the egg etched with Arabic and Urdu was an act of witchcraft, and there was no need for apprehension. He advised caution so that such acts are not repeated in future.
