M'lore: Rescued Crew of Japanese Vessel Dies at Hospital in City

Mangalore, Aug 1: The injured crew of Merchant Vessel A P L Japan who was rescued by the Coast Guard on Friday breathed his last at a hospital in city on Saturday July 31. 

The deceased has been identified as Gari Carl Grant (51). The coast guard had received a distress call from MV A P L Japan when the merchant ship was 220 nautical miles away from the city. Following this, the coast guard ship Kasturba Gandhi reached out for help and brought him to the shore on Friday and soon shifted to a hospital.

He had suffered injuries on his head, neck and eye and was under the treatment for same. However, in the wee hours of Saturday he breathed his last failing to respond to the treatment. The ship was on her way from Karachi to Singapore.
