AITA U-14 tennis: Gandharv tames 2nd seed to enter final


Bengaluru, Apr 15 (IANS): Gandharv GK who has been in sublime form ousted second seed Aditya Narayanan to make it to the title round in the boys' category of the Sree Gokulam Floresta AITA U-14 CS tournament, at the Transform Tennis Academy here on Thursday.

In the semi-finals, Gandharv beat the fancied player in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 to earn a title bout with top seed Arya Ganapathy who was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Kaushikh Rajesh.

Meanwhile in the girls' category, top seed Zynah Amber Salar struggled past third seed Sushmitha Ravi in the first semi-final.

After losing the first set, tamely by 1-6, Zynah barely managed to win the second set in a tie-breaker 7-6 (4) before getting into form in the decider to clinch the set and match at 6-3. She will meet second seed Snigdha Kanta for the crown. The latter defeated fourth seed Umam Ahmad 6-2, 6-3 in the other last-four encounter.

BOYS U/14

1-Arya Ganapathy bt Kaushikh Rajesh 6-3, 6-0; 4-Gandharv GK bt 2-Aditya Narayanan 6-2, 6-3.

GIRLS U/14

1-Zynah Amber Salar bt 3-Sushmitha Ravi 1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3; 2-Snigdha Kanta bt 4-Umam Ahmad 6-2, 6-3.
