New Delhi, Apr 16: Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has announced the postponement of the ICSE Class 10th and ISC Class 12th examinations amid the spike in Covid cases.

On April 16, CISCE stated that it would decide in June whether the exams for the academic year could be conducted. Further, CISCE maintained that fresh dates for the examinations will be issued only if the Covid threat subsides.

The ICSE Class 10th exams were scheduled to be held between May 4 and June 7, while the ISC Class 12th examinations were to be conducted between April 8 and June 18.

Earlier, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams were scrapped by the Union Education Ministry.

Following the CBSE's decision, a number of state governments also decided to defer or cancel the board examinations.

With the second wave of Covid in India, the number of infections is rising at an exponential rate. The country witnessed more than 2 lac daily cases on April 15, with the active caseload being 15.66 lac.
