New Delhi, Apr 20: The Delhi police arrested a couple for allegedly misbehaving with police personnel. The couple, after they were stopped and asked for the reason for not wearing face masks reportedly misbehaved with the police on Sunday, April 18. The husband was arrested on Sunday while the wife was arrested the following day.

Pankaj Dutta and Abha Yadav, resident of West Patel Nagar refused to wear masks and misbehaved with Police personnel during weekend curfew and further obstructed them in discharge of their duties, has been booked under multiple sections of Delhi Disaster Management Act.

"We had face masks with us but we didn't wear them because we felt that it was not for a couple in a car," Pankaj Dutta said. "I feel suffocation and breathing problems when I wear mask. Logically, I thought that it was not needed in the car as I was with my husband only. My opinion is that people should wear in public places," Abha Yadav said.

In a video shared by the Delhi Police, the woman can be heard saying,"...I have cleared UPSC..." listening to which one of the cops said since she has cleared UPSC, therefore, she should behave in a more responsible manner."Why should I wear a mask in my car? What if I have to kiss my husband," the woman was heard telling the cops.

“The husband wife couple who refused to wear mask and misbehaved with Police personnel of PS Daryaganj during weekend curfew and further obstructed them in the discharge of their duties have been booked and arrested,” tweeted Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Jasmeet Singh from his official Twitter handle.

The Delhi High Court on April 7, had made mask compulsory even if a person is driving alone in a private vehicle. A car will be taken as a 'public place', ruled the high court.

The rule to wear a face mask even when alone in the personal car makes a strange logic. Treating it as a public place is also strange

I saw the video and the women seriously needs help. When the police is talking about masks and reason for not wearing she's telling that she'll kiss her husband. Why is that supposed to be a problem that is your life do what you want why are you announcing that. Cops were doing their duty in recent court order even if your alone rule is that you should wear masks. Why are we accustomed to break the law then?
