Mangaluru, Apr 21: Deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra has informed that the weddings which are scheduled can only have 50 attendees.

Addressing media here on Wednesday, April 21, Dr K V Rajendra said, "The guest list should be given to concerned officials and also to the MCC commissioner if the event is held within the MCC limits. While in urban local bodies, permission should be sought from the CMC commissioner, TMC officials. While a PDO's approval in the gram panchayat is required."

"It is difficult to issue a pass for the wedding that is scheduled in the upcoming weekend curfew. The invitees can attend the program after having a permission letter, ID card (Voter ID or Aadhar card) and the invitation card. Whosoever is on the guest list should produce an ID card to gain entry into the wedding," Dr K V Rajendra informed.

"Only the invitee can travel in the vehicle, however, he cannot carry people who are not permitted or invited. If the wedding is being held at a temple only 50 people will be permitted to be a part of the ceremony. Wedding photographers and priests are included in that number," he added.

The daily rituals at the temple can be done by the priest but the public is restricted inside the temple. Movement of only those people are allowed who have an authorised pass and ID. The pass will not accommodate their family members. During weekend curfew there is provision to buy essential commodities from 6 am to 10 am, said the DC.

"In Mangaluru all the essential commodities like groceries, medicines are available within walkable distance. It has come to our notice that people are necessarily using vehicles to travel short distances. On the pretext of making a purchase they roam around the city. Further to hoodwink the police, they already carry a sack of rice bag in their car so that officials will not be able to question them," said police commissioner N Shashi Kumar.

Deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said, "Most of the Covid cases have been reported in the MCC limits, in the next one week we will set up software which can help us identify the hotspots of the infection. Once we receive the information, it will be released in the public domain so that citizens can stay alert. On April 20, for half a day there was a shortage of vaccine, but at night we received 20,000 doses of Covishield and 2,000 Covaxin."

Disappointed with this move. Election rallies had thousands of people. We waited for an year and now when everything was set up, we had to again cancel. Not anymore going to be a part of BJP. Heights of hypocrisy.

50 people including priests, photographers, bride , brides parents and siblings, groom, grooms parent and sibling- That itself will come to nearly 50, a little more permission has to be given. When political leaders conducted rallies of 1000 plus people as now their work is over and affected with covid aldready, they have decided to trouble the citizens!
