Complete curfew not required in Udupi - MLA Raghupati Bhat

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Apr 21: MLA Raghupati Bhat opined that there is no need of imposing a complete curfew in the district.

In a statement, MLA Bhat said, "The number of new Covid cases are under control in Udupi. Religious and other programmes will get affected due to curfew."

A video conference was also held at 6 pm on April 21 to discuss this issue.

"Night curfew and lockdown is required for Bengaluru. There is no necessity for the same for Mangaluru and Udupi. Out of 3,000 tests, only 150 are found to be positive. We have enough hospitals and beds to tackle the situation," he added.

"Muhurtham has been fixed for many weddings and religious programmes on Sunday. But a curfew has been announced on weekend. Curfew is not required in districts where the cases are less than 1,000 per day. We are also thinking of providing passes to people who want to attend wedding programmes on Sunday."

The MLA maintained that a final decision on the situation will take place after the meeting that will be held on Wednesday.

It may be 150 positive cases out of 3000 according to Bhat but don’t forget that one case of positive infects 10 people that is 1500 cases. Life is more worth than making money.

Again irresponsible statement from Raghupati Bhat. It's better to control virus spread by cancelling religious programmes and limit 50 people for weddings.

All for vote bank politics. No one is genuinely concerned about the loss of lives. PM is conducting rallies on one hand and asking everyone to adhere to covid protocols. Here Bhat doesn't understand that even the slightest concession can ruin the entire district. Just today's health bulletin shows that Udupi has close to 500 new cases.
