Karkala, Apr 22: A mini truck carrying LPG cylinders went out of control of its driver when negotiating the ghat road at Mala on the night of April 20. The driver jumped out to bail himself but he sustained injuries and breathed his last on the spot.
The deceased, who died due to injuries he suffered as a result of the jump, was Vishwanath (41) from Shivamogga.
Even though the vehicle was moving at night on a narrow path with sharp bends, it had no other occupants but the driver. The truck went out of the driver's control when moving towards Karkala a little ahead of Mala Abbas cutting, and fell by its side after straying away from the road. The driver, who expected the accident in advance after sensing that the vehicle was moving away from the path, jumped out to save himself but this proved costly for him. His body was taken to Karkala government hospital.
All the 342 LPG cylinders found in the truck were shifted to Karkala with the support of locals. A case has been registered at the rural police station here in this respect.
