Dharwad, Apr 23: The case of the death of two women employees of the University of Agricultural Sciences here, who were working on contract basis, has taken a curious turn. A complaint against the personal assistant of the vice chancellor of the university has been filed.
The two employees had died on January 30 this year when they were returning from Goa. Meghana Meghnath and Rekha Koketanur, who were working on contract basis, had died in the accident. Personal assistant of the vice chancellor M A Mulla, and stenographer Ulavappa Maistry, were injured. Kannada organizations and Bajrang Dal leaders had been holding protests, urging the case to be handed over to the criminal investigation department.
The parents of the deceased women employees have also joined the protestors. Pratibha Shivaji Gondali, mother of Meghana, has accused Mulla and Maistry and filed a complaint in 'Dharwad satellite police station.
She has claimed that both the ladies were sexually harassed. "They were misled by taking them to Goa after initially informing them that they were headed for Bagalkot. After the sexual assault on the two, the accident was deliberately orchestrated for murdering them, she said. The police said they will investigate the case from all angles.
