Udupi, Apr 26: “The number of Covid infected people is rising day by day, there also many who are succumbing to the infection. Being a national political party, it is our duty to respond to their grief and take suitable action. Udupi district Congress will be taking up pro-people programmes in this connection,” said district Congress president, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor.
He was speaking in a meeting on emergency Covid-19 management held by district Congress at Congress Bhavan on Monday.
“The party will appoint its own Corona Warriors to admit patients in the hospitals, supply Remdesivir, to vaccinate people, provide blood and plasma treatment depending on the need. A helpline system will be started by the district Congress on directions of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi,” he said.
Explaining the current situation of coronavirus in the district, Dr Sandeep Sanil said, “It has come to our notice that the vaccine is not available at the centres for the second dose though the date is fixed in the Aarogya Setu app. The district health officer should be informed in this regard. There is only one doctor for 120 patients in Kundapur. This should also be made known to the district administration. Patients are being sent back even when beds are vacant in some hospitals. The DC should be informed about it."
