Granada (Spain), Aug 6 (IANS/EFE): US first lady Michelle Obama and daughter Sasha ended their "unforgettable" visit to this southern Spanish city with a tour of the Alhambra.
They spent about seven hours in Granada Thursday before boarding the caravan to return to the Villa Padierna hotel in Benahavis, near Marbella, where they are lodging during their vacation with friends.
The first lady and the younger of the Obamas' two daughters saw Granada's cathedral and royal chapel and enjoyed a flamenco performance before a stop at the city's most famous ice cream parlor.
At the Alhambra, the party divided into child and adult groups for the tour of the historic structure, which served successively as a fortress, a mosque and a church.
President Barack Obama is not expected to join his wife and Sasha in Spain. The couple's older daughter, Malia, is in summer camp.
The White House announced earlier that the first lady's trip will include paying a call on Spain's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, who are spending the summer on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca.
