Bantwal, Apr 29: The mortal remains of a man was found in the Netravati river at Goodinabali, Panemangalore in the taluk on Thursday, April 29.
The deceased is identified as Niranjan (35), a resident of Puttur. Locals suspect that he must have jumped into the river and ended his life on the night of Wednesday, April 28.
Late-night of Wednesday, a bike was found parked on the old Netravati bridge of Panemangalore. On Thursday morning, the bike was found parked at the same spot on the bridge. Local youths who got suspicious searched in the river and found the mortal remains of the man.
Local swimmers Harris, Mohammed Mammu, Ibrahim, Ammi, Iqbal and Shameer traced the body in the river and brought the same out from the river.
Based on the documents available in the bike the name and address of the man was ascertained. The deceased was employed in gulf and had come back to native place a year ago. It is learnt that he is married and has a baby girl.
The mortal remains of the man was shifted to Bantwal hospital and the family members of the deceased were informed of the same. Exact reason for the extreme step taken by the man is not known.
Bantwal police visited the spot and investigated further. A case in this connection is registered.
