Customs foil red sanders smuggling attempt to Taiwan


Chennai, May 1 (IANS): Chennai Sea Customs officials foiled an attempt to smuggle red sanders valued about Rs 5 crore to Taiwan.

The Customs department said, on receipt of specific intelligence, officials intercepted an export container concealed with 6.4 t of red sanders valued Rs 5 crore and seized it.

The prohibited goods were camouflaged as pavement stone and declared for shipment to Taiwan, to escape from Customs examination check, the Customs said.
