Beat the Tough Weather in Kuwait and take a Walk

KUWAIT, Aug 8 (Kuwait Times): August marks the most humid period of summer in Kuwait, besides the hot sun and dusty weather. The temperature has been dramatically rising, in addition to the high humidity. This makes breathing difficult sometimes. People tend to gather in enclosed places to stay cool with the air conditioners strongly activated all the time. Who would ever think to take outdoors walks in such weather? One might guess the answer would be in the negative, assuming that nobody would actually brave the high temperat ure and humidity to go out for a walk in August in Kuwait.

What is actually surprising and somehow impressive in this regard is that some people actually have strong enough willpower to brave the factors of the weather that could prevent them from enjoying their walks and letting their bodies feel the spirit of life and movement away from the laziness and bone-cracking sound that usually comes when people sit and sleep for long periods with the AC on.

If one takes a walk along the beachfront promenade near the Scientific Center in Salmiya, one will see many people carrying their water bottles and practicing jogging or even running.

Lena, a young housewife, said that she gets tired of not going outside to breath fresh air for long periods. She took her two small kids for a walk despite sweating from the humidity and the heat, but she said that it is healthy for the body to get some relief from the artificial atmosphere indoors.

She explained that she had been waiting for a long time for the weather to change and become better, but she got tired of waiting, she needed to get moving outdoors.

Ibrahim told the Kuwait Times that he has been gaining weight lately, so decided to go jogging on the beachfront promenade. He said that he is trying to take advantage of this time preceding the holy month to have some walks and exercise his body despite the humid weather.

Ibrahim said that it feels healthier to walk and sweat in order to lose fats and feel energetic again after the long time spent indoors in the artificial atmosphere of the AC.

He added saying that there are lots of social obligations during Ramadan and one needs to sleep more during the day and thus he won't be able to have such a lot of free time during that period as he does now, so he decided to take advantage of this period to beat the heat and the humidity and enjoy taking walks.
