2 KKR players test 'Covid positive', Monday's IPL tie deferred

Ahmedabad, May 3 (IANS): An Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore, scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium here on Monday, has reportedly been postponed after two KKR players tested positive for Covid-19.

According to ESPNCricinfo website, spinner Varun Chakravarthy and fast bowler Sandeep Warrier have tested positive for the virus. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India or either of the franchises is yet to make an official statement.

This is the first instance of players testing positive within the IPL bio-bubble since the 2021 season began.
