Boy killed in grenade blast in Assam


Guwahati, May 11 (IANS): A 12-year-old boy was killed in a grenade blast in Assam's Tinsukia district on Tuesday, police said.

Tinsukia's Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Nimbalkar said that the grenade, which was lying on the roadside, suddenly exploded when Sujoy Hajong was riding his bicycle at Hajong village under Jagun police station area.

The boy was critically injured in the blast and at once rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police are yet to ascertain who actually placed the live grenade along the roadside.
