Udupi: Arguments between customer, shopkeeper over sale of meds ends in assault

Udupi, May 11: A case has been registered against a father and son for assaulting the shop owner of a medical store. The reason for the assault is believed to be the shopkeeper's refusal to sell medicines after 8 pm.

Puttur resident Pushparaj Shetty (40) operates the Sai Medical store at Kodankoor. He had closed his shop at 8 pm on May 10 as per government orders and was about to return home when the accused identified as Harish along with his son stopped Pushparaj and urged him to give medication for blood pressure.

Pushparaj said that he will sell it to them in the morning. However, soon after an argument ensued between the customer and the shopkeeper. It led to Harish and his son assaulting Purshparaj.

Pushparaj suffered injuries on the face below the eye. The accused is also said to have hurled expletives and threatened to kill the victim.

A case under registration number 81/2021 Sections 341, 323, 504, 506 and 34 of IPC is registered in Puttur police station in this connection.
