Udupi, May 12: A former Anganwadi teacher living alone died unattended without getting help from anyone. She was Saroja (64).

Saroja was functioning as Anganwadi school teacher before her retirement. She then worked in Kukkikatte students’ hostel. She was living alone in her house at Kukkikatte Indiranagar here. She had fallen down and was injured. As the neighbours guessed that she would have been infected with coronavirus, no one had extended help to her. Local people's representatives too did not care to come to her rescue. She died on Tuesday May 11 afternoon.

Later, after the town station house officer, Pramod Kumar, conveyed information, social worker, Nityananda Olakadu, transported the mortal remains of the deceased lady in his free ambulance service to the mortuary of the district hospital. Members of Yashoda Auto Union helped in shifting the body.

The woman's throat swab was collected and test was performed at the district hospital. It was confirmed that the lady was suffering from coronavirus infection.
