MP minister Usha Thakur suggests 'Perform yagna, Covid third wave won't touch India'

Bhopal, May 12: Culture minister of Madhya Pradesh, Usha Thakur, has once again come up with a controversial statement regarding Covid-19 on Tuesday, May 11 when she suggested people to perform 'yagna chikitsa' (ceremonial fire ritual) for four days to ward off the third wave of Covid-19.

Currently, the country is witnessing devastating effects of the third wave Covid-19 has lashed crushing the country's healthcare infrastructure and overburdening frontline medical workers.

After inaugurating a Covid care centre at Indore, Thakur while speaking to the reporters said, "For the purification of the environment, perform Yagna for four days. This is Yagna Chikitsa. In earlier times, our ancestors used to perform yagna chikitsa to get rid of pandemics. Let us all purify the environment, the third wave of COVID will not even touch India.

"According to experts, this wave will attack the children first. For this, complete preparations are being made by the Madhya Pradesh Government. We will overcome the pandemic successfully," she added.

Thakur had, earlier, performed rituals in front of a statue at Indore airport to eradicate COVID-19. She was even criticised for not wearing a mask while she visited a COVID care centre in the recent past.

I think we can perform in Pumpwell circle. This is a centre place for all of us. People from Kalladka and Pumpwell will be joining as guests.
