Udupi: Nodal officers appointed to monitor treatment to Covid patients at hospitals

Udupi, May 12: Nodal officers were appointed in the district to look into the needs of Covid patients admitted to private hospitals. The requirements primarily included the availability of general beds, oxygenated beds, ICU beds, ventilators and other facilities. A meeting was held to discuss the duties and responsibilities of nodal officers. It was chaired by the district panchayat CEO at district panchayat V S Acharya auditorium on Wednesday, May 12.

MLA K Raghupathi Bhat who took part in the meeting asked the concerned to realise their responsibilities and to prevent inconvenience to Covid infected patients in the private hospitals.

District panchayat CEO, Navin Bhat, additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu, assistant commissioner, Raju, district panchayat project officer, Srinivas Rao, health department officials and the appointed nodal officers were present.

Covid Care Centres have been opened at taluk centre for the Covid infected persons that need oxygen and for those who cannot be isolated at home.

Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh has appointed nodal officers to ensure facilities such as beds, food, electricity and other necessary facilities are provided at Covid Care Centres.

Tiperaya Karappe Toravi for MIT hostel Manipal Covid centre: 8277040047

The nodal officers have to follow the directions given to them without fail. Action under Epidemic Act will be taken in case of failures, stated a press release from the DC.
