Udupi, May 13: BJP leaders have vehemently opposed the statement of city municipality member Ramesh Kanchan in which he said that MLA Raghupati Bhat should give up the plan doing agriculture on barren land and concentrate on providing vaccine to the citizens of Udupi.

Reacting on the statement of Ramesh Kanchan, BJP leader Birthi Rajesh Shetty said, “Honourable MLA completes all his Covid related responsibilities in the morning and uses his spare time in the noble work of cultivating crop on barren land.

“MLA Bhat could have also took rest simply at his home like other MLAs during this time of Covid lock down. Because of this decision Bhat many works of removing silt from drains is done in the constituency. He has resolved the issues that would have bothered the public during monsoon.

“If anyone gets involved in holy work like agriculture, he or she will reap immense benefits. Do not give political colour such a noble deed. The then Congress leaders used to have sumptuous meal of fish curry and rice and take rest. Bhat is using the same time for this noble work,” he said.
