Mangaluru, May 17: The mortal remains of another employee of the tug which drowned near New Mangalore Port Trust after having been hit by cyclone Tauktae along with eight of its employees, was found near Thenka Yermal on Sunday May 16 morning.
On Saturday, one of the bodies was found near Yermal while three had reached the shore with the help of life jackets. Search for the remaining three is continuing. There is suspicion that the three missing men would have been stuck inside the cabin of the tug.
Even though a team of experts led by Bilal from Bengre tried to undertake the operation to search for the survivors and bring out the tug on Sunday, because of rough seas the plan did not take off. The team decided to undertake the operation on Monday during the low tide.
Those who reached the shore at Malpe stated that two among them had bolted the cabin from inside and were sleeping there when the tragedy happened. They said that their belongings have been lost, but they could survive because of determination to survive and courage, duly expressing happiness at having survived the ordeal.
