New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI): ICICI Bank Non-Executive Chairman K V Kamath, who is one of the members of the committee set up to find a successor to Infosys Chairman N R Narayana Murthy, on Monday dismissed talk of his being in contention for the top post at the IT giant as ''speculation''.
"Speculations... that is all I can say," Kamath told a private news channel. The media has reported that Kamath is being considered as the next chairman of Infosys, succeeding Murthy, who retires in August next year.
The IT bellweather has already formed a nominations committee, comprising Kamath, Cornell University professor Jeffrey Sean Lehman and HDFC Standard Life CEO Deepak M Satwalekar, to find Murthy's replacement.
When contacted, the company declined to comment on whether a member of the selection committee can be considered for the post of chairman.
Kamath headed the country's largest private sector lender ICICI Bank, before passing on the baton to Chanda Kochhar in May last year.
