Can PM's tears wipe pain of people who lost their loved ones: Congress

New Delhi, May 21 (IANS): The Congress on Friday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he got emotional while addressing the frontline workers in his Parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, asking if ‘he sheds some tears in guilt today, will it wash away the pain of those who lost their loved ones.

Addressing a press conference here, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said, "If the Prime Minister sheds some tears in guilt today, will it wash away the pain and tears of those who lost their loved ones?"

"People's non-stop tears are more important than the Prime Minister's," Khera added.

The Congress spokesperson was responding to a question during a press conference convened on the 30th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister became emotional while virtually addressing the frontline workers, including doctors, nurses and hospital staff, in Varanasi, as he expressed his condolences for the people who succumbed to the dreaded virus.

Modi also hailed the doctors, nurses, technicians and ward boys engaged in the fight against Covid-19 in its deadly second wave. He also hailed the efforts being made by the ambulance drivers in Varanasi.

Congress spokesperson Radhika Khera said in a tweet, "To overcome the challenges, Modiji's weapons -- 'tears'. Make people cry everyday and then shed crocodile tears on television."

Today we have a very weak and incapable PM heading our great nation to doom. Bhakt - remember humanity and nation comes first before BJP and Modi or Shah - so do the right thing and ask the top 2 guys to resign. Pick someone else from BJP itself - we don't care who - but he or she must be competent to lead the nation and not cry over their own mistakes.

Congress needs join hands with the government to fight back pandemic. Unity is strength. PM alone cannot with this game. It is team work. Essentially built a habit of issuing statements which are supportive for controlling corona.

...elder are you really elder or a kid? In adversity every bhakt talks about the need of opposition co-operating with ruling party? What happened to this co-operation when India was not in dire straits? Why the Crocodile tear PM called his Bhakt's don't listen to Pappu when Pappu started warning the PM the danger of virus back in March of 2020? Go back in history and check how many times Pappu gave warning and advised the PM to take suitable action. Even our highly respected Manmohan Singh wrote a letter to PM on how to take care of Covid situation, what happened to his advise? Thrown in the gutter right? Please wake up and understand, illiterates can only understand illiterate language and not the language of educated. That's why we have just went back to 16th century courtesy BJP.
