Mangaluru: Renowned saxophone artiste Machendranath passes away

Mangaluru, May 23: Internationally acclaimed saxophone artiste Dr Machendranath passed away due to coronavirus on Sunday May 23 evening.

As his condition deteriorated due to the infection, he was admitted to a private hospital in Deralakatte.

It is said that his wife succumbed due to coronavirus a few days ago.

Dr Machendranath had bagged the district Rajyostava award and several other awards and accolades.

Several organisations had felicitated him for his achievements in music. He took part in several concerts which were held in various parts of the country and abroad. His daughter Sindhu Bhairavi is also a well-known saxophone artiste.
