Udupi: Lockdown violators made to clean highway, garbage carried in seized vehicles!

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, May 23: The Udupi district administration has come up with a unique way to teach a lesson to those venturing out of their homes without any valid reason during lockdown and violating Covid norms.

Udupi assistant deputy commissioner (ADC) Sadashiv Prabhu on Sunday May 23 seized vehicles which were moving on the national highway without any valid reasons and made violators clean garbage piled along the national highway.

The violators were made to pick up garbage on national highway from Baliga industries to Nittur. The garbage was loaded on the seized vehicles and taken to Alevoor dumping yard for segregation.

The ADC also warned that vehicles which violate lockdown norms would be seized and used for garbage collection until the lockdown ends.

Speaking to daijiworld, ADC Sadashiva Prabhu said, "We are witnessing many instances of unnecessary travel by people during lockdown. The administration has given strict orders in this regard. When I stopped a vehicle during my inspection, the driver of the vehicle gave silly reasons for his travel on the national highway. With the intention of creating social awareness, I made them clean the garbage piled up on the roadside along the national highway. This was an act to raise social awareness. They have realized their mistake. People are coming out and roaming on roads for very silly reasons. Even the educated are doing the same, which is not acceptable."

The Udupi administration has given strict warning to public not to come to cities with the intention of buying essential items. Any essential item should be bought from the neighborhood stores only. In city muncipality limits no one is allowed to go to the next ward for buying essentials. Even though there are strictly laid down guidelines, people are ignoring the norms and are flocking into city markets to buy essential items like fish, meat etc.

VRR, What if they get infected? Don't you think they might get infected if they violate the lockdown? If they are already infected, they are likely to spread the virus to others.

Very good idea to punish the violators. If anyone is not willing to do this, sieze their vehicle & put heavy fine. But make sure genuine people with valid reason are not get punished.

This brainless ADC prabhu must be a staunch supporter of illiterate chaiwala. the vehicle which he has used to transport garbage is a pick up truck that is for hire or doing some kind of heavy works. Does this coward Prabhu has guts to make a BMW car owner to do the same? All these idiots holding govt positions are showing their might against poorer section of the society. To hell with the third rated democrazy system of India.

Kujuma mangalore, what this Deputy commissioner did was excellent job.Otherwise people never learn .why were these people with BMW or lorry loitering about without reason?Thats the best medicine for rules violating, and punishment.why not a BMW driver is different than others?IN front of law everyone is same.So they dont come next day that way I am sure, and cause has fulfilled its action.Even garbage too must be removed by someone ,so why not people who move about without cause.?

Good idea but no humanity. ADC Sadashiva Prabhu must provide Gloves and mask for them. They did the mistake but how can ADC Sadashiva Prabhu ask them to commit suicide? If these people get sick and die who will be responsible for their family?
