Beltangady, May 25: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, laid foundation stone for the oxygen unit that is proposed to be set up in the taluk government hospital here at a cost of Rs 82 lac, on Monday May 24.
Speaking on the occasion, Poojary revealed that such oxygen units will be provided to seven hospitals in Dakshina Kannada district. He said that units to be built at a cost of Rs 82 lac in a new building measuring 500 sq ft would be able to generate 390 litres of oxygen per minute. He said that the government has instructed the concerned to complete the works by June. Poojary explained that the state government has undertaken this measure to see that the patients do not face oxygen shortage under any circumstances.
MLA Harish Poonja, promised to install the new oxygen unit for the benefit of patients at the earliest and said it will soon be dedicated to the public.
MLCs Pratp Simha Nayak and K Harish Kumar, town panchayat president Rajani Kudva, vice president Jayananda Gowda, member Sharat Kumar, tahsildar Mahesh J, taluk panchayat executive officer Kusumadhar, taluk health officer Dr Kalamadhu, taluk hospital administrative medical officer Dr Vidyavathi, and others were present.
