Mangaluru, May 25: A Public Development Officer (PDO) under the Mallur gram panchayat on Tuesday, May 25 was allegedly attacked by five persons after he asked them to wear a mask.

It is said that PDO Rajendra Shetty had asked five youths who were near the gram panchayat office to wear a mask and adhere to Covid-19 guidelines. However, one of the attackers identified as Aboobakar along with four others got annoyed and attacked the PDO.

Mangaluru rural police have registered cases under IPC sections 332, 504, 34 and section 5(1) of the Karnataka Epidemic Act in this connection.

No one will attack any one just for asking to wear mask. this is nothing but misuse of power by Public Development Officer to make the case in favor. In the name of covid 19 measures and protocol general public has been treated as criminals and slaves any government employees can beat them with sticks and abuse them don't u think people have respect. but sometimes they get reply from public at that time they start crying like this and put cases and play victim role.. shame

going by the name of the PDO, he must have spoken in a rude manner with the guys and got fitting reply for it I believe. Most of the govt officials especially of highers castes in Hindus have arrogance in them and they speak very cheaply about general public. Good the guys showed him his place and manners. Without any provocation noone will attack.. Just because the attackers are minority people, the commentators here are harsh on them.

Ponkra mangalore ,is it what you learnt at your house from parents or in school? I thought people get bit thoughtful and clever,brain more developed .But here I see it is not the case.Noone attacks others suppose someone suggests to wear mask or so.Many youngsters consume drugs and the moment suppose somebody suggests them to wear mask etc,immediately attack them and hurts.One should be in a state to accept his mistake and follow either ,or simply go away.Second please dont show your stupidness in media too.

One more victim of unscientific measures the govt had initiated due to WHO protocol to further its hidden agenda. The more regulations initiated by govt to take away freedom of people the more incidents like this would happen as people are deprived of their economic activities and frustration gets out in a violent way when they get ordered . Unfortunate incidents which shouldn't have happened.
