Bangalore: Devaraj Urs Award for Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade

Bangalore, Aug 20: Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, has been chosen by the state government for the state level Devaraj Urs Award. The award, instituted in memory of the late Urs, who was twice the Chief Minister of the state, and during whose tenure, various steps were initiated for the upliftment of the poor classes of the society, is being given on the birth anniversary of the leader. August 20 happens to be his birth anniversary.

B L Muniyayppa from Doddaballapur taluk, Ashok B Naganapalli from Gulbarga, B T Manava from Hassan, and Sr Irene D’Silva from Dharwad, have been selected for division level awards.

The division level awards will be conferred at a function being held at the Banquet Hall of the Vidhan Soudha on Friday. However, the state level award will be presented in a separate function, date and venue of which will be decided later.
