Udupi: Ministers, Jagadish Shettar, Narendra Swamy to Visit Town

Udupi, Aug 20: State panchayati raj and rural development minister, Jagadish Shettar, as well as women and child welfare minister, P M Narendra Swamy, will be visiting the town on Saturday August 21 to take part in various programmes.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday August 19, MLA, Raghupati Bhat, said that Shettar will be setting into motion the ‘Suvarna Grama’ scheme of Tenkanidiyoor village at 9 am on Saturday. The minister will then inaugurate ‘Samarthya Soudha’ in the compound of the taluk panchayat premises here at 10.30 am. Streeshakti auditorium will be inaugurated by Narendra Swamy. State home minister, Dr V S Acharya, will be handing over various facilities to the beneficiaries. Raghupati Bhat will preside.

Chairman of the 3rd finance commission recommendations implementation committee, A G Kodgi, Udupi zilla panchayat president, Gladys D Almeida, Rajya Sabha member, Oscar Fernandes, MP, D V Sadanand Gowda, MLCs, Kota Srinivas Poojary and K Pratapchandra Shetty, MLAs, Lalaji R Mendon and Halady Srinivas Shetty, deputy commissioner, P Hemalata, zilla panchayat executive officer, N Rajashehkhar, and deputy secretary, D Pranesh Rao, as well as commissioner of Udupi Urban Development Authority, Ramanand Nayak, will be present, Bhat said.

The state mega conference of panchayat workers will be held at Rajangana of Sri Krishna Mutt at 2 pm on Saturday, under the aegis of the association of employees of various departments. This convention will be inaugurated by Shettar, and benedictory address will be delivered by Paryaya Sri Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji, he explained.

MLA, Lalaji Mendon, taluk panchayat president, Shyamala Kunder, and others were present at the press conference.
