May 26: Dakshina Kannada reports 729 new corona cases, 973 in Udupi; 16 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 26: As per the Dakshina Kannada health bulletin the district reported 729 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday. While the total number of positive cases has risen to 72,544. This further has raised the number of active cases to 10,099.

A total of 8,35,152 samples have been tested. Out of which 7,62,608 are negative.

As many as 756 people were discharged on Wednesday, taking the total number of recoveries to 61,561.

A total of 884 deaths have occurred so far, including 11 on Wednesday.

A total of Rs 59,22,830 in fines have been collected so far, for 56,739 mask violations in the district.

Udupi

The coronavirus tally in the district has risen to 31,590 including 973 fresh cases on Wednesday. Out of these, 5,866 cases are currently active.

Over 207,453 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 894 patients were discharged on Wednesday. The total number of recoveries has climbed to 25,599.

A total of 125 deaths have occurred so far, including five on Wednesday.

    Just wondering why are the cases not decreasing here. Saw a few traffic cops stop few people mainly for the targets and not as why they are roaming etc in Attavar. Also a takeaway in Attavar have set up chairs inside the apartment entry and serve the people. Sad state of affairs here..
