Air India Plane Lands in Oman after Bomb Hoax

Abu Dhabi, Aug 20 (IANS): An Air India passenger plane travelling from Kuwait to Mumbai made an emergency landing Friday at the airport in Oman's capital Muscat after a passenger claimed there was a bomb on board, a media report said.

The Boeing 737, carrying 160 passengers, was in the Omani airspace when a passenger told crew members there was a bomb on board, leading the pilot to request for an emergency landing in Muscat, Xinhua reported citing Oman's official ONA news agency.

After landing in Muscat, all passengers and crew disembarked safely with no injuries reported, while the plane was thoroughly searched.

Police and airport security personnel found no bomb on board and concluded that it was a hoax. The plane was then authorised to take off.

Police, however, gave no details about what happened to the passenger who sounded the alarm.

    Mobile phones buying in India easy and one person can own numbers of sim cards. The police to tracing the call records of the mobile number that was used to make a bomb hoax call. But those buying mobile was producing fake documents. Most chinese mobile phone makers use fake Internatiional Mobile Equipment Identity(IMEI) number of mobile phones. In the event of a any criminal activity that police unable to trace accused people. IMEI code is a unique code that every GSM and UMTS phone must have. I thing at present chinese mobile phones to banned in India. Another similar threat happened on Kingfisher airline on last May at Mumbai domestic airport. Airport police are traced the call records of the telephone number was used to make a bomb hoax. After airport police said call was traced to a Tata Indicom registered in the name of a city business man. When the business was questioned he said he had never applied for any such Tata Indicom connection.

    If the trouble-maker is not mentally sick. then he must be penalized severely for causing
    an unnecessary emergency landing in Muscat, and the overall  inconvenience to the passengers.

    I heard from someone that there was a similar threat on Jet Airways and the flight landed at Muscat. Is it the same incident or there was one more such incedent on Jet Airways?
