Bangalore, Aug 21: The BJP MLA from Doddaballapur, J Narasimhaswamy, has retracted his decision to resign from his membership to the state Legislative Assembly and the chairmanship of the Karnataka Slum Clearance Board after holding discussions with chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

The chief minister met Narasimhaswamy, son of former Congress MP and former union minister R L Jalappa, and persuaded him not to insist on resigning on account of family problems.

Narasimhaswamy, who met the chief minister at his official residence on Race Course Road in the city, told reporters after the meeting that he had decided to quit as he could not carry out developmental work and live up to the expectations of the people, who had voted for him.

The MLA was first elected to the state Assembly on the Congress party symbol in the 2008 assembly polls. He subsequently resigned his seat and contested again on the BJP ticket in the by-election and won, which had resulted in the separation of the father-son and earned him the enemity of the family.
