Rumi Khan stuck in Dubai, to return after vaccination

Dubai, May 31 (IANS): Actor Rumi Khan is stuck in Dubai owing to the second wave of the Covid pandemic in India. He had gone to the emirate to visit his brother.

"I was in Dubai to visit my brother, but then the second wave of Covid created a scary situation and I avoided travelling back to India. Now I'm stuck in Dubai. I'm worried about my parents who are quite old and alone in India. However, I'm in regular contact with them and I am arranging whatever they need and getting it delivered right to their house," he says.

The actor plans to fly back to India once he is completely vaccinated. "I've got my first dose of vaccine. The second is scheduled in the coming month. Once I'm vaccinated, I'll be allowed to travel back to India," he says.

Rumi, is known for featuring in television series such as "Uttaran", "Ek Veer Ki Ardaas: Veera", "Sher-e-Punjab: Maharaja Ranjit Singh" and "Mahabharat" (2013).

    Can anyone please help us! We are desperate. Reading the article of Rumi Khan stuck in Dubai I hope we will get help too. My husband, An English/British citizen initally worked in Dubai for 4 years but changed jobs and now works in Riyadh and has a KSA work permit. Before Covid he commuted weekly to Dubai at the weekends to our home here where Im a resident. When KSA and UAE shut their borders my husband was unable to go back to KSA. He has been stuck here since last year. He has tried everything to get a vaccine to return to KSA but as he is classified as a "tourist" he is unable to return to KSA. We also need to get back to London urgently. My mother is very old and frail and we need to go back to see her before she passes away. My father already passed away and we could not return for his funeral. Dubai Govt, with folded hands I beg for you to please please help us to give my husband a vaccine so he can leave. He is not a tourist. With many thanks. T Thorogood
