Bhagwati Prasad Sworn in as Chief Justice of Jharkhand


Ranchi, Aug 22 (IANS): Justice Bhagwati Prasad was Sunday sworn in as the new chief justice of the Jharkhand High Court by Governor M.O.H. Farook.

Prasad took oath at the Ranchi Raj Bawan. The ceremony was attended by union Food Processing Minister Subodh Kant Sahay, assembly Speaker C.P. Singh and other dignitaries.

Prasad was a judge of the Gujarat High Court and was Aug 18 appointed chief justice of Jharkhand High Court.

The Jharkhand High Court got a regular chief justice after Gyan Sudha Mishra was elevated to the Supreme Court justice three months ago. Sushil Harkoli was functioning as the acting chief justice since then.
