PM Modi to chair meeting on Class XII board exams


New Delhi, Jun 1 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting on CBSE Class XII board exams on Tuesday evening, sources in the government told IANS.

During the high-level meeting, the Prime Minister will hold a discussion on various issues related to the matter with the concerned officials from different states.

The development came after Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' was admitted to AIIMS here for post-Covid complications. His condition is state to be stable. Pokhriyal who was scheduled to chair the important meeting.

During Tuesday's meeting, Modi will be briefed on all the options being considered by the government before taking a frinal decision on holding the Class XII board exams amid the Covid pandemic.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will also join Modi in the meeting.

In a recent meeting on the matter, while most states had agreed to holding the exams at a later stage, some were against it. Demand was also raised for vaccinating the students before they appear for the exams.

The CBSE had earlier suggested to the government that exams could be held between July 15 and August 26.
