Mangalore: Bangalore Train to Karwar – Hopes Rekindled

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Aug 23: The south western railway has sent a proposal to the Railway Board, recommending for extending the Yashwantpur – Mangalore – Kannur train to Karwar.

It may be noted that braving strong opposition from the people of Karnataka, the railways had earlier extended the above train to Kannur in Kerala, ignoring the earlier plea to extend it to Karwar, considering the shortage of trains on this sector.

The recommendation says that once the train reaches the city, its ten compartments should move to Karwar, while the other seven should go to Kannur. In the evening, these compartments will come back to the city and move to Bangalore as a single train, the proposal explains. The proposed departure time of the train is 9 am from the city, and arrival time at Karwar has been set at 12.30 pm. The train is proposed to leave Karwar at 2 pm and reach the local station at 7.15 pm.

The railways have been claiming that it is not possible to run an additional train between Bangalore and Karwar in view of problems they face in the Western Ghats sector of the railway line. The local MP and organizations representing railway commuters had recently demanded for starting a new train between Bangalore and Karwar.

The idea of starting train between karwar to bangalore via mangalore is appreciable. This should not be as a dream only in paper and proposal, it has to be converted into practical reality and allow it to be a success. The transport lobby and lack lusture attitude of the railways is really hampering. Though Hon'ble railway minister has d in the budget, the initiative by the railway staff to speed up the work with modalities is yet to take off. Pray god to give the people behind this to be positive in their approach and make it happen at the earliest before onset of the monsoon. Hope it would be everybody's dream come true.

Break up would result confusion, problem for commuters. Launching new train is good idea. I request honourable MP to more pressure to railways to introduce new train. Railways is giving old and base less reason is western ghat.If you see ghat there is chance for crossing. The department is not bothered about people but worries about cargo. This is because of non kannadigas administration in railway department. Muniappaji be helpful for kannadigas.....

Secondly i request union law minister to show some kind of interest towards his native.

Why its breakup, half bogies will goes to Kannur and remaining to Karwar?, Incase full train tikets are over booked or issued to kerala passengers, then how this problem get solved at Mangalore Central. Better reserve this train to our districts people and konkan region only.
