Terrorist associate arrested in Kashmir


Srinagar, Jun 2 (IANS): A terrorist associate was arrested by police and other security agencies from Jammu & Kashmir's Budgam district and incriminating material recovered from his possession, officials said on Wednesday.

Police said acting on specific information, a special joint checkpoint was established by police and the CRPF's 43 Bn at Harren Saibug area of Budgam, and Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, resident of Hakarmula Budgam, linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT, apprehended.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested terrorist associate was providing shelter, logistics and other material support including transportation of arms and ammunition to the active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT in various areas of Budgam," police said.

"The arrested terrorist associate has been in touch with Pakistan-based terror commanders through various social media platforms and was also in constant touch with LeT self-styled terror commanders in Kashmir."

Police said incriminating material including LeT posters were recovered from him.
