Mysore: Varsity VC Controversy - Veteran Writer, DejaGou on Hunger Protest

Daijiworld Media Network – Mysore (SP)

Mysore, Aug 24: Dr De Javare Gouda (DejaGou), veteran Kannada writer and former vice chancellor (VC) of Mysore University, has decided to observe a day’s hunger strike on Wednesday August 25, alleging that steps being taken against the university’s immediate past VC, Dr J Shashidhar Prasad, are vindictive in nature. Shashidhar Prasad is the son of DejaGou.

A press release from Sri Kuvempu Vidyavardhaka Trust said that DejaGou will stage his protest at Sri Venkannaiah Dais in Sri Vivekananda PU College in Jayalakshmipuram here, from 6 am to 6 pm on Wednesday. It further clarified that although August 25 happens to be the birthday of DejaGou, his 93rd birthday celebrations have been postponed.

It may be recalled that Sri Venkannaiah Dais has been witness to several of Dr DejaGou’s protests, most of them being hunger strikes demanding classical status for Kannada language.
