Bangalore: Church Attacks – Commission Seeks Two-month Extension

Bangalore, Aug 25: The B K Somashekhara Commission of Inquiry, set up to investigate the attacks on churches that occurred at several places in the state in the year 2008, has sought an extension of two months in its term.

The present term of the commission is set to end on August 31. As hearings and some tasks are pending completion, the commission has asked the state government to grant a two-month extension to it. Out of 1,019 affidavits filed with the commission, it has already examined 800 witnesses relating to the probe.

District-wise inquiry is being conducted in the city by the commission from 3 to 5 pm every day from August 26 onwards. Advocates and government officials will be taking part in the proceedings, and the public prosecutors will present their arguments, a release by the commission stated.
