Saudi Employer Hammers 23 Nails into Lankan Maid's Body

Riyadh, Aug 25 (DPA): A maid from Sri Lanka was being treated in hospital after her employer in Saudi Arabia allegedly hammered 23 nails into her body, Arab News daily reported Wednesday.

"I had to work continuously since I had to do the chores of all the occupants and when I wanted to take rest due to tiredness, they inserted the nail in my body as a punishment," the 50-year-old woman told a Sri Lankan television station.

The woman, who has returned to Colombo, said she was overworked, threatened with death, and beaten.

The Sri Lankan embassy in Riyadh said it was looking into the case.

    Some Saudi arabs really devils with no mecy at all. These sponsor's are worst then animal. This is a Holy month of Ramadan. Muslims respected this month. But one Saudi employer hammers 23 nails into maids body. Tnails had been heated up before they punctured her body. What a shame for saudis? No need of 23 nails, atleast 3 nails to be incert that sponsor and him to know the painfull of it. Aslam does not allow to treat so cruel action. What is the shariah law and punistment for these horrible inhuman behaviour? Maid should not be sent to Saudi.Some arabs are mistreated, tourtered,burnt or raped many many maids. Indian sub continental countries need to think before sending their citizens maid to these animal counties. What a shame Saudis?

    Ask the labour attache's of the respective embassies of India, Sri Lanka & the Philippines and they will give you many, many more horror stories. I really wish that all expatriates and in particular the most vulnerable should be given the phone #'s of the concerned personnel who should work fearlessly to protect these most vulnerable of our compatriots and at the very least ensure they are treated humanly.
