Bangalore: Suspension of MU Teacher – HC Refuses to Vacate Stay

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Aug 25: The state High Court (HC) has refused to vacate the stay it had granted earlier, against the suspension of Dr S Tippeswamy, reader in the department of biosciences, Mangalore University.

The single-judge bench presided by Justice Ramamohan Reddy passed this order. It may be recalled that two girl students had complained to the university, alleging that Dr S Tippeswamy was sexually harassing them. The registrar had accordingly, issued show cause notice to Tippeswamy. As he failed to give satisfactory reply to the charges, the university had suspended him from service.

This order was questioned in the HC, and the bench which took up the issue, had stayed the operation of the suspension order. The university had moved the HC, seeking to vacate this stay.
