Belgaum: Anti-Christian Remarks – Bishop Seeks Action Against MLA

Daijiworld Media Network – Belgaum (SP)

Belgaum, Aug 26: On behalf of the Christian community, a delegation led by Bishop of Belgaum, Peter Machado, comprising Fr George Lopez, Fr Joseph Chenakala SJ, Louis Rodrigues, Oscar D’Souza, Girgol Rodrigues, Clara Fernandes, Kumar Tiwari and several other dignitaries as its members, met the state Chief Minister (CM), B S Yeddyurappa, on his arrival at the local airport on Wednesday August 25.

The Bishop explained to the Chief Minister about the shock and hurt feelings of the members of the Christian community at the comments made by Khanapur MLA, Prahlad Remani, against the Christians at his Independence Day address at Khanapur. The delegation drew the attention of the CM to the call given by Remani to ‘weed out the Christians from the country’, and handed over a memorandum to him, seeking action against the MLA in question. Bishop Machado told the CM that the Christian community will forgive Remani if he tenders an apology to them.

The CM, who expressed regret at the insensitive comments passed by the BJP MLA, assuaged the feelings of the Bishop. He later told the media that he would direct Prahlad Remani to tender an unconditional apology to the Christians for his comments, failing which, the party would act against the erring legislator.

The Bishop thanked the CM for his assurance and for understanding the feelings of the Christian community and taking immediate steps to redress their grievances.

Through the memorandum, the community members have also taken exception to the remarks made by the MLA that the British had sown the seeds of Christianity in India, thus trying to incite communal disharmony in the society. About 4,000 Christians along with like-minded people had taken out a peace protest in Khanapur on August 18 to draw the attention of the public to the fact that their sentiments have been hurt, it has been explained.

The memorandum also has alerted the CM against the move of MLA to divert the attention from the real issue, by encouraging his supporters to organize protests against forceful conversions, which is altogether a different issue. The Christian community has already filed complaint against the MLA under various sections of the IPC, the CM was told.

Apparently this intellectually ignorant MLA Mr. Prahalad Remani is the finest leader in Karnataka. So much for leadership and it is precisely for this reason that we have shortage of electricity, garbage on the roads, potholed highways, incessant spitting from Govt. buses, sewage in storm water drains etc. Its a Total breakdown of society. Remember history, 10,000 Britishers ruled the whole of India which had a population of about 300 million then, and a few Moghuls with a small army invaded India and ruled us for a long time.

Does Mr. Prahlad know the reason? Yes rightly discribed as a Peddha. For some reason he seems threatened by the superior philosophy of Christianity which respects all religions and teaches us humility, compassion and to love thy neighbour as thy self. I suppose there is no love or compassion in this man who claims to be a leader. He should be setting a good example.

Khanapur MLA Prahlad Remani is a ignorant and illeterate character. He has only hate in his mind. Christianity was brought to India by one of Jesus's apostle St. Thomas about 2000 years ago(52 A.D.) and he was martyred in Mylapore, near marina beach in Chennai.

Later it was encouraged by missioneries who came with the portuguese. These Jesuit missioneries are responsible for educating Indian people. The britishers never interested in christianity and they never converted anyone to christianity.

Even one of the historian said recently in Mumbai that britishers were against christianity and they opposed conversion. The MLA should read Indias history and get his knowledge right before preaching hatred and division in society.

Prahlad Remani is an illiterate, ignorant MLA who does not know that Christianity has been in India for 2000 years, when St. Thomas reached the shores of Kerala and established a church there. British were the least interested in Christianity. They only came to India to trade and steal the assets. They had nothing to do with christianity, except for making anglo-indians and that too the first batch of british soldiers in 1865 who could not bring their wives to India, and had to 'marry' indian women and whose offspring are current generation angloes / ingloes.

This Remani , needs to go back to school and get his history right.

Does anyone know if he failed in history subject before becoming MLA? I won't be surprised if he was a complete duffer / peddha in school.
