Mangalore: City Dentist Chosen to Attend to Dental Health of President

Mangalore, Aug 27: Dr Mitra Hegde, senior professor, working for A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences here, has been chosen to cater to the dental health of the President of India, Pratibha Patil. She has made the city proud, and takes credit for being the first doctor from the state to get this honour.

Dr Hegde had been invited by the President two months ago. Accordingly, Dr Mitra will be the official dentist for the President and her family. She had also been invited to the party hosted by the President on the occasion of Independence Day celebrations recently. On that occasion, the dentist had checked he President’s dental health and given her advice.

Henceforth, Dr Mitra Hegde, who hails from Bannampalli in Perdoor, Udupi district, will visit Delhi whenever summoned, to provide dental health-related services at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Dr Mitra’s husband, Dr Nidarsh Hegde, is also a dentist in the same hospital. The couple also has ‘Dental Clinical Special Clinic and Dental Cosmetic Centre’ in Kankanady in the city.

    Oh! It is a great feeling that a dentist from Mangalore is the official dentist of the Honorable President of India. Incidentally, it makes me proud that the same Dr.Mitra Hegde treated me and made a minor dental surgery for me few years back.
