Man-eater leopard caught alive in J&K's Budgam


Srinagar, Jun 15 (IANS): Officials of the wildlife protection department said on Tuesday that the leopard that mauled a girl child to death 11 days ago, has been captured alive.

Officials said the leopard that had been declared as a man-eater after it killed the 4-year old in Humhama locality has been caught alive.

"The leopard had been spotted in the nursery area around the district development commissioner's office in Budgam town two days back.

"After sustained efforts, our team has caught the leopard alive," an official of the wildlife protection department said.

People living in fear in areas close to Humhama after the deadly attack by the man-eater, have heaved a sigh of relief after receiving the news about the animal being trapped.
