Kalaburagi, Jun 16: A government doctor who escaped from providing his services to the cause of stopping Covid19 infection by remaining on leave, was found checking patients in a private clinic. This incident happened at Afzalpur in the district on Tuesday June 15.

Administrative medical officer, Dr Sushilkumar Ambure said that government medical officer, Dr Sangamesh Takkalaki, was absent from his duties from May 25 onward. Several calls were made to him to join for duties and WhatsApp messages were sent, but he had not responded, he said.

Even though there is Covid emergency in operation, the officer had overlooked the government directives. When the medical officer along with the tahsildar visited a clinic in Afzalpur after gathering information that Dr Takkalaki was there, they found him checking and treating patients in a private clinic. By this act, he has violated the Karnataka State Civil Service Rules 2021, he said.
